K Jet Specialists in South Wales

Have trouble with your modern Classic?

With so many modern classics using Bosch’s K Jet fuel injection system, there are plenty of cars out there still using this reliable and simple fuel injection system. You would expect it would be easy to find a tuner for your modern classic. After all, there are more dynos or rolling roads across South Wales than ever before.

So why is it so difficult to find a garage to diagnose your K Jet running problems?

Most of these rolling roads are run by companies that only remap cars using a computer.

What cars use K Jet Fuel Injection

If you drive a Porsche, Volkswagen, Audi, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Rolls-Royce, Bentley, Lotus, Ferrari, Peugeot, Nissan, Renault, Volvo, Saab, TVR or Ford built between 1973 and 1994 with fuel injection you could have a version of K Jet installed.

Why should you use a K Jet Specialist?

With no diagnostic plug and no code reader to point you towards the fault via codes, it’s all down to carrying out tests in the correct order and the ability to interpret the results. These skills have been largely lost over time and most of the test equipment junked. This means most ordinary garages are simply not interested in taking these jobs on.

It is important to carry out diagnostic tests in a specific order so that the problem is diagnosed quickly and efficiently without replacing unnecessary parts and wasting money.
It really helps if you have fuel pressure gauges plus the experience, knowledge and data to determine the cause of the problem. If you don’t I urge you to get in touch with some who does. While a simple system, the parts can be expensive and difficult to source. Guessing and firing the parts cannon, isn’t recommended for this reason.

K Jet testing

The first test that you should always carry out when you have a problem with K-Jetronic or KE-Jetronic, is to determine if the intake is airtight.
Then the return volume tests because if you have a low return volume every other test you do will be compromised.

Then and only then should you carry out the system pressure tests. Depending on the results of these tests, you may need to check the operation of certain electrical circuits, or the ignition system.
